Wed., January 15, 2025, at 6 p.m. On this Conserving Earth, Beaux Jones, President and CEO of The Water Institute, discusses their mission and purpose with host Rebecca Triche. The Water Institute is located in Baton Rouge and provides research and policy guidance for communities, businesses and agencies managing ecosystems or infrastructure in Louisiana and other Gulf coast states. Much of their research focuses on water management, including riverine, coastal and deltaic systems. Learn how they assist in planning for future hazards and risks, why the institute was created, and how their research is adding to Louisiana's leadership in coastal and water management.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Princesses from across East Texas are invited to don their best ball gown and sip tea with friends during the SFA Gardens' Little Princess Tea Party slated for April 26 at the Stephen F. Austin State University Pineywoods Native Plant Center, 2900 Raguet St.
Conservation is the theme for this year’s event, and two sessions will be offered — the first at 10 a.m. and the second at 1 p.m.
"The Pineywoods Native Plant Center creates a magical setting for young princesses and fairies to celebrate the natural beauty of East Texas,” said Kay Jenkins, SFA Gardens educational programs coordinator.
Princess will enjoy songs, stories and crafts while making lasting memories. Teatime snacks and drinks will be provided. Live butterflies will be featured to help highlight the importance of conserving native habitats.
The event is recommended for children 3 to 10 years of age who are accompanied by an adult. Tickets can be purchased online from the SFA Gardens webpage sfasu.edu/sfagardens.
Fifty tickets are available for each of the two tea party sessions. Tickets are $50 per person and typically sell out. Proceeds from the event help support environmental education programs at SFA Gardens.

Love vocal music? Abby Sims will present her senior vocal recital at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Apr. 13 in the Center for Performance & Technology Recital Hall at Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts in Natchitoches. The CPT entrance is located on the west side of the High School Building facing University Parkway. Sims was recently named First Chair Alto 2 by the Louisiana All-State Mixed Choir for the 2024-2025 school year. This is the third time Sims has been named to LMEA’s All-State Ensembles.
